Spring Art Development publishes ‘La via della danza’

Giugno 12, 2025

A multimedia anthology of music, gesture and choreography

La via della danza, the new anthology album by composer and pianist Massimo Buffetti, is now available. This work spans more than thirty years of experimentation between music, dance, video art and the performing arts.

This is a project born for the stage that has been released as a record and in audiovisual form, while retaining its performative nature. The album is available as a CD Digipack (with a QR code providing access to a dedicated video playlist) and as a digital download on all major platforms.

La via della danza brings together some of Buffetti’s most notable scores. This selection reflects the idea that, from the outset, musical languages should not be compartmentalised, but rather united through sound, gesture, word and image.

The album opens with La fine dell’inizio and La via dell’uscita, taken from Oper/in/a Bottle (a production broadcast on Rai 5), and closes with Preghiera Remix, an homage to the actor and director Franco Di Francescantonio. The entire album is conceived as an arch form, in which music becomes a metaphor for the life cycle.

The central pieces include four excerpts from Il Labirinto. Il mito di Arianna e il Minotauro, a ballet choreographed by Arianna Benedetti inspired by Greek mythology, where the interaction between electronics and choreographic gesture results in a continuous dynamic of metamorphosis, mirroring and self-reflection.

These are joined by compositions such as Non ci sono parole, in which Barbara Eramo‘s voice fills the semantic void left by contemporary conflicts, and L’alba respirando, where listening, breathing and gesture merge. This track features footage of Tai Chi master Wu Min captured by George Thompson, an artist and populariser with hundreds of thousands of followers worldwide.
