La Via della Danza – Sound that becomes movement
La Via della Danza is an anthology album by the composer and pianist Massimo Buffetti. Throughout his career, Buffetti has successfully blended music, dance, theatre and visual arts. The work originated in Florence and has since expanded towards new creative horizons. It is a true suite for body and spirit, where classical, experimental and electronic music combine with dance and movement to find new life in the form of recordings and videos.
It is a circular album where life, myth and contemporaneity merge. The first two tracks, La fine dell’inizio and La via dell’uscita, are taken from Oper/in/a Bottle, a visionary story that was broadcast on Rai 5 and tells the story of the beginning of life: the womb, which is the same for everyone. The circle of sounds and gestures is closed by Preghiera Remix, a song written in memory of the actor and director Franco Di Francescantonio. Between birth and death lies life: the world and humanity with all its sounds, gestures, fears and difficulties. Four tracks are taken from Il Labirinto: Il Mito di Arianna e il Minotauro, a ballet inspired by classical mythology and produced by Opus Ballet in collaboration with Spring Art Development.
Amidst the spectrum of human emotions, Non ci sono parole, performed by Barbara Eramo, addresses the subject of modern warfare in an emotional attempt to articulate the unutterable. Then comes a breath of hope: L’Alba ‘Respirando’ is a song that marks a bright and confident opening towards the future. The accompanying video features the elegant movements of performer and Tai Chi master Wu Min, captured with great visual sensitivity by artist and social media influencer George Thompson, who has hundreds of thousands of followers worldwide. The union of sound and movement creates a visual meditation where each breath becomes a dance and each step opens up to possibility.
“We must never stop believing in the potential of humanity,” says Buffetti. “For the first time in history, science and spirituality are moving in the same direction. It’s all thanks to quantum physics. There is something that goes beyond. I try not only to play it, but also to express it through all the art forms with which I can communicate.”
La Via della Danza is not just an album; it’s an invitation to experience the world through movement, to dance through life, even when we stumble, and to transform pain into beauty and movement into poetry.
Because every note, every word and every gesture is a new beginning.
